Mark Simpson
Chief AI Officer

We’re pleased to announce that Griffiths Waite will be a Bronze sponsor of Birmingham Tech Week 2026, supporting the AI Symposium on Wednesday 21 October at the ICC Birmingham Atrium.
Running from 9am to 4pm, the AI Symposium will bring together leaders, practitioners and innovators to explore what it takes to move artificial intelligence beyond experimentation and into responsible, valuable use across organisations.
For Griffiths Waite, this is about more than event visibility. Birmingham Tech Week is an opportunity to play an active role in the region’s technology community: sharing what we have learned, hearing directly from the people shaping the industry and finding practical ways to support organisations as they navigate change.
Celebrating three award shortlists
Our involvement comes at an exciting time for the Griffiths Waite team. We have also been shortlisted in three categories at the West Midlands Tech Awards:
Scale-Up of the Year, recognising purposeful growth built on employee ownership, strong engineering capability and long-term client partnerships.
Tech Leader of the Year - Mark Simpson, our Chief AI Officer, recognising his practical, people-centred leadership and work helping organisations turn AI ambition into measurable value.
Diversity Champion - Julia Gray, recognising her contribution to Women in Tech Birmingham and her commitment to helping more women build confidence, share their expertise and create careers in technology.
These shortlists reflect different parts of the same story: sustainable growth, responsible innovation and a commitment to strengthening the community around us.
What we’re looking forward to
We’re looking forward to meeting new people and listening to organisations from across the region as they share how their businesses are changing and what that means for their technology and AI ambitions. We want to hear about the challenges they are encountering, from legacy systems that may be limiting the value of AI, to uncertainty about which pilots to scale and how to evidence AI investment, alongside the realities of governance, adoption and integration. These conversations will help uncover the key themes shaping enterprise AI today, while giving us the opportunity to learn from technology leaders, founders, engineers, policymakers and organisations at every stage of their journey, and to build stronger connections across the West Midlands.
Moving from AI theatre to enterprise advantage
The AI conversation is evolving. Organisations no longer need more hype or isolated pilots; they need a clear route from ambition to trusted, repeatable execution.
Our work focuses on helping enterprise teams identify where AI can make a meaningful difference, validate opportunities quickly and build the secure products, platforms and governance needed to scale. At the Symposium, our team will be available to discuss the questions business leaders are facing, from selecting the right use cases and establishing value measures to integrating AI into complex enterprise environments.
We will also use the week to listen. The questions, barriers and priorities shared by attendees will help shape the insights, events and practical support we develop next for the regional business and technology community.
Join us at the AI Symposium
The AI Symposium takes place on Wednesday 21 October 2026, from 9am to 4pm, at the ICC Birmingham Atrium.
If you’re attending Birmingham Tech Week, come and meet the Griffiths Waite team. Whether you are exploring an early AI opportunity, trying to move beyond pilot activity or looking for a trusted partner to support enterprise delivery, we would be pleased to learn more about your goals and share relevant experience.
We look forward to contributing, learning and connecting with Birmingham’s technology community throughout the week.
Continue the conversation at our breakfast roundtable
We will distil the learnings and themes from Birmingham Tech Week at our next breakfast roundtable on Tuesday 3 November 2026. Built around the topic “AI innovation is quietly destroying enterprise value”, the session will give business leaders an opportunity to discuss where AI initiatives may be creating hidden risk, eroding differentiation or failing to deliver lasting value, and what organisations can do differently.
Register for the breakfast roundtable to join the discussion.
