On 22 September, we brought together senior leaders for a candid breakfast roundtable on where AI can create meaningful business value, and what prevents promising ideas from making it into production.

The conversation moved beyond efficiency and experimentation. Participants explored how organisations can scale what already works, turn productivity gains into better customer experiences, and build the data, security and governance foundations needed for trusted AI.

Leaders shared practical examples spanning contract review, knowledge capture, customer personalisation and strategic data analysis. Despite the different use cases, the same challenges appeared repeatedly: fragmented information, limited domain context, security concerns and the gap between an impressive prototype and an enterprise-ready solution.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of bringing people into the process. Adoption is more effective when teams can experiment, challenge outputs and apply their expertise, not when AI use is simply mandated or measured by activity.

One message came through clearly: AI only proves its value in production. Success depends not just on the technology, but on combining it with organisational knowledge, human judgement and clear commercial outcomes.

Five key takeaways
  • Production is where AI proves its value: Build for security, measurement and scale from day one, not just an impressive prototype.

  • Confidence comes from participation, not persuasion: Let teams contribute, challenge outputs and see the results for themselves.

  • Use AI to multiply what already works: Scale successful approaches across teams, customers and locations rather than simply completing one task faster.

  • Reinvest efficiency in customer delight: Turn time saved into better customer experiences, growth and stronger outcomes.

  • Being data rich is not the same as being knowledge rich: Connected data, organisational context and good information quality are essential for useful answers.

Held on 22 September 2026 at The Fable in London, the event created space for a small group of senior peers to listen, share their experiences and have a candid conversation about the realities of turning AI ambition into enterprise value.
