We find that Professional Services needs fall into seven areas, consistent with your evaluation, implementation and management of SOA projects and Oracle products:

1. Proof of Concept

A Proof of concept (PoC) is typically a 2-4 week offering and serves as a blueprint for how SOA should be used and lay the groundwork for future architecture and governance roll-out. A small investment in fully understanding the technology and how to use it most effectively will have a large pay-off later.

2. Discovery

Discovery is usually a 3-6 week engagement that reviews your project infrastructure and needs, develops a customised architecture, and produces a high level project plan. For integration projects, it identifies the required services. For BPM projects, it identifies the workflows. For Portal projects it establishes UI design and workflow redesign specifications.

3. Pilot

A Pilot validates the results of a Discovery engagement with either (a) a part of the defined project or (b) a limited number of users. The Pilot engagement also provides your internal staff with training and skills transfer. The length of the Pilot engagement depends on the scope of the Pilot, and the level of Griffiths Waite involvement you choose - choices range from fully-outsourced projects to project embedding to training/mentoring.

4. Full Implementation

Full Implementation is customised and engagement length depends on the role you wish Griffiths Waite to play - choices range from fully-outsourced projects to project embedding to training/mentoring.

5. Tuning and Maintenance

Periodically, you may want Griffiths Waite consulting experts to evaluate your technical architecture and configuration, and assist with solution maintenance to be sure you are applying best practices. Generally Tuning and Maintenance engagements range from 2 to 5 days, and are recommended twice per year.

6. Governance

Governance can be wide-ranging so we believe making governance agile, relevant, and incremental to business needs. Griffiths Waite provides expert and key assistance in creating a governance framework and Design Authority operating effectively in a short time-frame.

7. Architecture

Our architecture service defines a SOA and services infrastructure blueprint for clients and maps the Oracle products to the new architecture and outlines a timeline for implementation. Our middleware experts provide all the necessary technical skills to implement and configure the architecture providing a solid foundation and direction for future SOA initiatives.
