1 July 2008 - Following Oracle's acquisition of BEA Systems in April for US$8.5 billion - Oracle unveils BEA's Role in Product Strategy for Next-generation Middleware. The addition of BEA products to Oracle Fusion Middleware advances Oracle's middleware strategy and further strengthens key areas of the Oracle Fusion Middleware family.

"The message is clear" said Hugh Griffiths, co-founder and director of Griffiths Waite "SOA plays a crucial role in Oracle's application and technology strategy. The combination of Oracle and BEA platforms is second to none and is fantastic news for our customers. Oracle's SOA and middleware strategy is very strong and will continue to dominate the market."

Oracle has acquired BEA Systems, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise application infrastructure solutions. The addition of BEA is expected to accelerate innovation by bringing together two companies with a common vision of a modern service-oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure and to further increase the value that Oracle delivers to its customers and partners.

Together, Oracle and BEA provide a complementary best-in-class middleware portfolio that spans Java Application Servers, transaction processing monitors, SOA and business process management, user interaction and Web 2.0, identity management, business intelligence, enterprise content management and vertical-specific technologies.

Oracle President Charles Philips states that "Oracle is number one in middleware - and the addition of BEA products to the Oracle Fusion Middleware Suite will accelerate innovation in our product offerings, and help our customers strategically implement middleware to more easily build, deploy, and manage applications in a secure environment."
