The challenge - complex data, visualised beautifully

In 2014, work commenced on a new business intelligence tool called Atradius Insights designed to set the standard for credit management by putting critical information at customers’ fingertips enabling them to easily identify risks, monitor portfolios and spot new business opportunities. The purpose of the project was to visualise and present complex data in a highly interactive and customer-friendly way – something no competitor had done before.

In addition to the innovative UX design, Atradius Insights had to fulfil challenging technical requirements, including:

Our approach - going above and beyond the brief

With legacy systems, a large volume of data, an ambitious vision, aggressive timescales and an exacting client we knew we had to prove the power of Oracle technology in an original way.

Oracle had recommended GW as one of their leading partners in Europe for our pedigree of innovation. Our proposal and board presentations didn’t just outline our recommendations; we took the design agency’s UX designs and built a custom prototype from scratch. This fully interactive prototype brought the visuals to life and proved exactly how innovative we could be with Oracle technology.

What we did - pushing Oracle to the limits

Having convinced Atradius just how powerful Oracle could be, we won the work for two critical reasons: our ability to deliver to aggressive timescales and our deep understanding of the full Oracle stack.

Using Oracle WebCenter and Application Development Framework, our approach had four key focus areas:

One solution, three countries, countless stakeholders

GW orchestrated the logistics of an Agile co-design and build process with several Atradius leads, business analysts, testers, architects, designers and developers across numerous locations.

Aggressive two-week sprints

The core 10 week development cycle was divided into fortnightly sprints with weekly demos and check-ins across all teams. Our creative office space hosted joint workshops and business facing demos. By working together to a defined MVP goal working to overcome technical and business procedural challenges became an exciting adventure.

Working with existing IT estate

As the MVP had to be released within very short timescales, we had to prevent any maintenance burdens by completing our integration work without extensive changes to the existing systems, some that were over twenty years old.

With a successful customer portal in place, Atradius then turned to their website, another critical customer touchpoint that needed to seamlessly marry up to the dashboard.

The website was lagging behind in both security measures and how well it reflected the brand.
